Police Officers are charged with the responsibility of fulfilling the Police mission at the primary level of execution. Patrolling the community to provide services to the public, enforce laws and ordinances, preserve the peace, protecting life and property. Additional duties may include training reserve or civilian personnel, making community or school presentations, may work rotating shifts, may do other duties as required or assigned.
MISSION
The Mission of the Rockaway Beach Police Department is to enforce laws and ordinances, maintain order, preserve civil rights of individuals and serve, in cooperation with the community, to minimize crime and the fear of crime while enhancing the quality of life for all persons.

The Police Department is selling 6-inch Glow Stick brand chemical lights, on a cost recovery basis, at both City Hall and the Police Department. Lights sell for $1.00 each, or 6 for $5.00. Each single use, disposable glow stick provides illumination for about 24 hours. Advantages include long shelf life, individual packaging and easy disposal in the trash after use.
